Prayer Partners: “Two or Three”

Matthew 18:20   “For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them.”

What Are Prayer Partners?

Prayer partners are a group of two or more that choose to come together to pray for one another and others.  The motivation for this group is the support of one another and to join Jesus on His Mission (that of making disciples and raising up laborers for the harvest).

In John 17:9 Jesus said “I pray for them.  I do not pray for the world but for those whom you have given me.”  The understanding by Jesus is that we who are “believers” need God’s intervention in our lives on a moment by moment and day by day basis.  In 2 Chronicles 7:14 we read, “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”  We cannot do this by ourselves, but with each other’s consistent, prayerful help we can be victorious in our walk with God and each other.

  • Choose the members of your own group with whom you feel confident and can have faith and trust in. Confidentiality is important.
  • Your goal should be to pray for each other daily and meet once a week, all together, for a time of “connecting” and accountability. This can be done in person, over the phone, through texts, email, etc…
  • Stay in touch by phone, text, email, face book during the week as “stuff” comes up.  Don’t hesitate to call your partner/s on the phone and pray right then, over the phone, as urgent “stuff” comes up.
  • On a monthly basis there will be topics provided, themes to pray for the purpose of personal growth, prayer support of the broader church ministries and the making of disciples.
  • Intercession is a matter of love first, before and beyond anything else.
